Charlie’s Online Cree-Ations is an Indigenous-owned business based in the community of Hall Lake, Saskatchewan, part of Morin Lake IR 217. It was created from a love of Cree language, creativity, and the belief that language belongs in everyday life.
My name is Charlie Venne, and my dream of starting a business began in 2013. I wanted a place to showcase my graphic design skills, and by 2014, I was developing ideas for an online store. Over the years, I explored different platforms and made early attempts at selling my designs. Those efforts didn’t take off, but the idea stayed with me. Today, Charlie’s Online Cree-Ations brings together my interest in design and my love of Cree language, turning a long-held dream into something people can wear and enjoy.
As a Cree educator and designer, I want to help make our language more visible in everyday life. The designs bring Cree words and expressions to clothing, hats, artwork, and other creations. Some are educational, some are humorous, and others celebrate identity and the beauty of the language. They offer speakers, learners, and supporters something meaningful to wear, use, or share.
Cree is spoken in different dialects and communities. Designs featuring Woodland Cree or Plains Cree are identified in their product descriptions where appropriate. Care is taken with spelling, meaning, and presentation, while respecting that language use can vary between communities.
Most products are made to order and fulfilled through print-on-demand partners. This allows the collection to grow without keeping large quantities of inventory. Production and shipping details may vary by product and are provided during ordering.
Charlie’s Online Cree-Ations is guided by respect for Cree language, culture, community, and responsible representation. Every purchase supports an independent Indigenous-owned business and a dream that has been years in the making.
Thank you for visiting, supporting my work, and being part of this Cree-ative journey.
Wear the language. Express yourself.
